A global staffing firm wanted to build an internal communications program. As the first Internal Communications Manager, I conducted an audit to assess the state of communications including stakeholder interviews, channel review (intranet, newsletters, etc.) and a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis. The audit results fed into a comprehensive communications strategy that I presented to C-suite officers. Some major activities implemented included developing a staffing plan, counseling executives, restructuring the company’s intranet and launching an employee council. I crafted questions, as part of the corporate employee survey, to measure effectiveness and 95% of respondents approved of the strategic communications efforts.
